چکیده
The performance of a speech-only cellular PRMA system is analysed in an interference limited Rayleigh faded environment. The inter-cell interference present in such a system can significantly increase the probability of packet loss as well as reduce the overall system utilisation. In this paper an ideal 2-branch SIR selection diversity scheme has been shown to be effective in combating the level of inter-cell interference. A cellular PRMA system with a cluster size of 4 was found to be the most efficient, in terms of system utilisation and number of users per cell able to be supported.

Investigation of slotted ALOHA under Nakagami fading with synchronized and asynchronous cochannel cells
The throughput performance of slotted ALOHA (S-ALOHA) in a cellular system and Nakagami fading environment is studied. Based on the signal capture model, the effects of the multiple access interference (MAI) from in-cell users and the cochannel interference (CCI) from cochannel cells are quantified analytically. Especially considered are the cases when asynchronism of cochannel cells is present...

There is a strong likelihood that future wireless communication systems will employ packetisedtransmission techniques. Such an approach would provide a number of benefits, including theability to integrate with emerging wired systems based on Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM).In addition, packet-based wireless networks would allow for diverse traffic types and inparticular, speec...
متن کاملSlotted ALOHA land-mobile radio networks with site diversity - Communications, Speech and Vision, IEE Proceedings I
An analytical method for investigating slotted ALOHA land-mobile networks is presented. The probability of successful reception and throughput is assessed for a single base station, taking account of contending transmissions and receiver noise. Receiver capture is assumed to occur if the received signal power exceeds the joint interference power by a certain margin, called the receiver threshol...
متن کاملRetransmissions versus FEC plus interleaving for real-time applications: a comparison between CDPA and MC-TDMA cellular systems
The capacity of mobile cellular systems is mainly limited by cochannel interference. Commonly in multiple carriertime division multiple access (MC-TDMA) systems, like the global system for mobile (GSM) communications, the interference noise is first reduced by means of channel clustering and slow frequency hopping. The residual interference, characterized by a level varying slot by slot, causes...
متن کاملProtocol Modifications for Improved Co-Channel Wireless LAN Goodput in Partitioned Spaces
Partitions can play a significant role in minimising cochannel interference of Wireless LANs by attenuating signals across room boundaries. This could pave the way towards higher density deployments in home and office environments through spatial channel reuse. Yet, due to protocol limitations, the latest incantation of IEEE 802.11 standard is still unable to take advantage of this fact: Despit...
